13oz Laceback Jeans 33 x 35
This pair of laceback jeans takes inspiration from Anvil's use of yoke-integrated welt pockets and Lee's use of a coin pocket that terminates in the waistband. The fit on this pair is reminiscent of Navy trousers, with a high rise, slight flare, and generous cut throughout. The denim used is 13 oz, woven by Cone Mills, consisting of organic cotton. The pocket bag fabric is a light herringbone twill, sourced from a local fabric rescue.
These were constructed almost entirely on antique treadle machines, with a brief dip into vintage machines for the sewn-in shoelace holes on the laceback. All seams on these jeans are flat-felled, and all the buttonholes are hand-sewn. The hem is finished with a chainstitch done on my 1920s Willcox and Gibbs domestic machine. This pair has been given one cold water wash and air-dry. Not much shrinkage is expected. The laceback allows for up to 3 inches of cinch.
